How Dental Implants Work

Dental Implants are made using a titanium post, which is placed surgically in your jaw. It fuses to your jawbone, and then your dentist places an abutment on top of the post. The abutment anchors a dental crown, which is a prosthetic tooth, usually made from porcelain. Although the implant itself is simply the titanium post, all three components together form what we typically refer to as “dental implants.”
